When we were in high school in the late 70s, I was in a band. We were called The Beatles. We played all the great songs of the time, and the greatest band in the world. If you were a fan of the Beatles, you probably thought the songs were the best of their time. That’s not to say that they were perfect. That was not their intention.
We all wanted to be in the Beatles. All that work and effort and sweat and heartache just for a one or two songs in a band is ridiculous. But as with all bands, you have to cut your losses. The first single on the first album, “Hey Jude”, is a perfect example.

This is a pretty interesting argument in my opinion. I don’t think that you have to play the whole instrument, but if you play the whole instrument, then the band is just a band.
So in other words, if you want to be a Beatles fan, then you should play the whole instrument.
