This photo of my cousin, the artist Corinna Kopf, has been on my wall for years. I don’t know why. Maybe I have been too busy to notice the many art pieces she has worked on, but I do know that it has always been there. I am not here to say that I love it. I am here to say that it is a work of art.
I know what you’re probably thinking: “How can you say that a woman on a beach is a ‘work of art’ when she’s on a beach? That’s an insult.” Well, no, I’m not here to do that. The answer is “because she’s there.” She’s not just there, she’s right there.
Corinna Kopf is a pretty good example of the fact that women can be as good as men at creating art. People tend to think they’re doing something wrong if they “have” or “are” something.
In that way, Corinna Kopp is a part of the real world, and all the more reason to look the part. That is why she has a tattoo. That is why we see her at the clubs and in the magazines. That is why she is so popular on the internet. She’s the real deal and we should all love her. Because, like her tattoo, she is a real part of the real world.
