Well, I guess I could say that a Twitter fan is still a fan, but Twitter only fans are not fans. Theyre more like fans of a particular person, like, or a certain company, because that person may not be an actual fan anymore, but the Twitter account still exists. In other languages, the word supporter is used to imply that the person is connected to something (like a fan of a soccer team, a fan of a particular company, etc.).
I have the same problem. I know I can follow someone who isn’t a fan, but I still have trouble saying what I think of her. So when I think of someone I follow, I have to think of her in the same way I imagine a fan of a particular movie or TV show. It’s kind of like saying I think of someone as a fan of a certain band.
